Segments
A segment is a saved group of contacts that you can send a campaign to or start a flow for. There are two kinds.
| Kind | How it works | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Rule-based | Contacts join and leave automatically as they match or stop matching the rules | "Customers in Pune with a lead score above 50" |
| Static | A fixed, hand-picked list of contacts | "The 40 people at Saturday's event" |
#Create a rule-based segment
- Open the Segments tab and click Create new segment.
- Name it, for example Hot leads, Pune.
- Add rules. A contact is in the segment only when all rules match.
- Save. The count updates as contacts change.
#What you can filter on
| Field | Conditions |
|---|---|
| Tags | Is a member of, Is not a member of |
| Status, Country, Language, Lead Source | Equals, Not equals |
| Lead Score, Engagement Score | Greater than, Less than, At least, At most |
| Days Since Last Activity | Greater than, Less than |
| Custom fields | Equals, Not equals, and number comparisons |
| Another segment | Is a member of, Is not a member of |
#Create a static segment
Tick the contacts on the Contacts page, click Assign to Segment, then choose an existing static segment or type a new name. You can also open a contact and tap a segment to add or remove them. You can't add people to rule-based segments by hand, because the rules decide who belongs.
#Tags as segments
Every tag can also be used as a ready-made segment, shown under Tags as Segments, so you don't need to create a segment for a single tag.
#Using segments
- Choose a segment as the audience of a campaign.
- Start a flow when someone joins a segment, with the Segment Entry trigger.
- Export a segment from Export Contacts.
